Celebrations

  • Shoparoo Points - Thank you for submitting your receipts through the Shoparoo App! We continue to earn more and more points. Remember to scan all those receipts from your holiday shopping.

  • The Student Leadership Team has selected a new name for their group after generating ideas for names of their group then voting for their favorite name. The Student Leadership Team will now be called the “Husky Helpers.”

  • Thank you Keewahdin team members for adopting families in need this Thanksgiving! We have adopted a few families in our school that need assistance this holiday season. Our families are fortunate to have such a caring team helping students and families in any and every way.

  • Mrs. Switzer’s class took a field trip last week to gain experience interacting with local businesses and services. Everyone gained a greater knowledge of how the economy and transportation works in the Port Huron area.

  • Mrs. Debano’s class had a Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday afternoon thanks to lots of parents pitching in by cooking food and serving our kindergarten students. Thank you Mrs. Debano for cooking up two turkeys and parents for coming together to show students how to serve up and enjoy a tasty meal. Feedback

  • We are always looking at ways to improve our school and we need your feedback.

  • Please take a moment to provide us with your thoughts. We will use the information now and as we plan ahead for next year.

  • Parent Survey Link

A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate)

  • This week we will begin to practice our new lockdown procedures. We will focus on proactively protecting ourselves in an emergency. Practice will look different in each classroom as well as across the different grade levels. Teachers are now empowered to direct how to best respond to an emergency given the circumstances and their environment.

Talk Moves - Home to School Connection

  • We are beginning to use prompts in the classroom to have students explain their thinking. These tools support thinking, talk formats provide different ways to organize students for conversation, and ideas for creating a classroom where respect and equal access to participation are valued norms. This also creates a culture where students are actively listening to their classmates then responding to their ideas. We are teaching students how to agree and disagree with ideas not people. Wrestling with content and ideas are important while also valuing the person putting their ideas forward.

  • Please take a moment to review the separate document of Talk Moves and incorporate these into your conversations to model these skills to our young learners. You may have already heard your child using these phrases and wondered where they came from. We need your help to solidify this best practice with all Little Huskies!

Canned Food Drive

  • We will begin a Salvation Army canned food drive to help local families fight hunger. The Husky Helpers will be responsible for this campaign and further details will be forthcoming!
